A speech-to-speech AI platform built for global communication, Lucida AI, has raised $7 million in seed funding led by UK-based Velocity Capital. Alongside our fund, the round also drew participation from Next Tier Ventures and Turkey’s Bogazici Ventures, Yapı Kredi FRWRDa Ünlü & Co.
The investment follows a $1.25 million pre-seed round led by Neo Asset Management, bringing Lucida AI’s total funding to $8.25 million.
The London-based company will use the new capital to expand into additional languages and markets, continue developing its proprietary speech-to-speech infrastructure, grow its enterprise offering internationally, and accelerate product development.
Spoken fluency and confidence play a significant role in how clearly someone is understood, particularly as people and organizations communicate across more languages and cultures. Lucida AI was built to address this directly, giving individuals and enterprise teams continuous, on-demand speaking practice that fits into their day.
Users speak directly with the AI in real time — no typing, no menus, no scripted exercises. The platform functions as a communication coach and responds through natural dialogue rather than a fixed set of prompts.
Lucida AI is powered by its proprietary Speech Language Model (SLM), which supports free-flowing conversation that adjusts to each speaker’s level in real time. The platform provides instant feedback on fluency, pronunciation, and clarity, and covers various scenarios, from everyday conversations like travelling to business meetings, presentations, and client calls.

Lucida AI is available as a mobile app for individual users, with enterprise clients supported through secure deployment options including on-premises hosting and end-to-end encryption.
Since launching 15 months ago, Lucida AI has grown to more than 3 million users globally, generating over 2.2 billion minutes of spoken interaction across Europe, the United States, and emerging markets.
